• We guarantee RUBBER NUGGETS for a 50-year life span. Based on testing by the EPA, it'll last about 80 years. As long as you can use the borders and maintain it, there is no replenishment or replacement needed as compared to mulch (where CPSC recommend you replenish 33% of even the highest-quality mulch every year). Factor in the labor and delivery (and even the hassle) and RUBBER NUGGETS will pay for itself quickly.
• Unlike mulch, RUBBER NUGGETS has no compaction factor and you don't need as much. Six inches of RUBBER NUGGETS is equal to 12 inches of the best mulch available as far as cushion is concerned.
• There are many health and safety hazards associated with mulch that are not associated with RUBBER NUGGETS. Some children develop allergies to mulch due to the mold that forms in the mulch (very quickly when it is wet because the moisture will expedite decomposition on the mulch). Another problem with mulch is splintering.

Critical Height is the maximum fall height from which a life threatening injury would not be expected to occur. RUBBER NUGGETS only require a 6 inch depth to protect a child up to a 10 foot fall. Other surfaces need anywhere from an 8 inch to a 12 inch depth for the same amount of protection.
